Yan Zhen Zhu (she/her) is a co-editor for Opinions. To Yan, journalism represents the pursuit of truth. As an editor for The Survey, Yan is excited to open up meaningful discussions in the Tech community about contemporary issues and help fellow writers’ visions come to life in their articles. Yan is a regular reader of The Times and finds herself scrolling daily for editorials from various news publications, with her favorites including The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. Outside of journalism, Yan enjoys reading fiction, philosophy, and theory; some of her favorite authors are Simone de Beauvoir, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, and Madeline Miller. Yan is also involved heavily in policy debate, with a specific focus on advocacy towards Asian American communities. In the future, she hopes to become a criminal lawyer – majoring in either political science, philosophy, or economics during college.
