Mariam Amin (she/her) is a STEM Co-Editor. Mariam joined The Survey in her freshman year, hoping to improve her writing skills and connect more deeply with all that Brooklyn Tech has to offer. She sees journalism as a powerful tool for amplifying important issues and shedding a light on different perspectives. Mariam regularly reads The New York Times and Vox because she enjoys their reliable news coverage. As she is strongly interested in STEM, she also frequently reads publications from Wired and Nature to stay updated on the latest developments in research. In the future, Mariam hopes to pursue a career in both research and journalism, using her writing to advocate for underrepresented voices and those who may not have the platform to speak. In her free time she could be seen reading, cooking, doodling, and hanging out with friends. Mariam’s current favorite book is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, which she admires for its writing style.
