Javien Zou (he/him) is the editor for Layout. Javien believes that in today's fast-paced and technology-driven society, journalism plays a critical role in presenting multiple perspectives to complex media stories. He feels that journalists must be on the lookout for factual information and be able to correct misinformation, especially on social media. In terms of his favorite reads, An Assassins' Guide to Love and Treason by Virginia Boecker and the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan are books he can never put down. In addition, Javien keeps up with the latest sports news from ESPN. Outside of The Survey, Javien is also part of the Red Cross Club and Student Media. He also enjoys playing and watching sports, movies, and TV (especially Gordon Ramsay’s cooking shows). In the future, Javien wants to dive into the communications and film production fields. Javien is most excited to have higher quality and more consistent prints, while developing new ideas as a Survey community!
