Elizabeth Filippelli has taught Journalism and English at Brooklyn Tech since 2007. She has worked as the advisor for The Survey since 2009.
Filippelli grew up in New Jersey and received her B.A. in English and Anthropology from Rutgers University. She then worked as a paralegal before joining an AmeriCorps program based out of Denver, CO. After AmeriCorps, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya before earning a M.A. in English Literature from the University of South Carolina. She then returned to New York to become a high school English teacher through the NYC Teaching Fellows program.
Filippelli lives in Jersey City, NJ with her husband Jon and her daughter Keira. In her free time she enjoys running, reading, traveling, and drinking coffee.
