After 27 years The Lady Engineers bring home the city championship banner. The team ends the season on a perfect undefeated 15-0 record, and they can rejoice as their hard work has paid off.
The team emerged victorious against Hunter College High School in the first playoff game at Fort-Hamilton Pool. Soon after on the 1st of November, Tech won their second playoff meet against Bronx Science at the Stuyvesant High School pool.
Shortly after, captains Samantha Wong ’17, Vicky Ge ’17, and Lok Chi Hon ’17 stated that “The meet was ours to take. It was our time to reverse what happened last year
and not only win the relay but the entire meet. We’re ready for anything as long as we’re a team.” They were confident about the final.
In addition, Amanda Ly’18 said “It’s a great feeling to know that whatever the outcome, we will continue to put in hard work and support each other till the end. Our team has grown over the years and I’m proud to be apart of it.”
The final meet was held at Lehman College, where Tech faced off against Stuyvesant. On November 11, Tech proved their dominance and won against Stuy, with record setting performances.
Moments after winning, Peony Teo ’17 rejoiced “Winning was the result of all our hard efforts and it was only possible because we trusted each other like family. We won together just like we talked, cried, and ate together, like the sisters we are!”
Jasmin Wang ‘17 exclaimed, “There is no team I’d rather be a part of. Through all the morning practices and rigorous sets, we have managed to set our minds and accomplish our goal. I can proudly and graciously say, that I swim for the PSAL Girls Swimming Team Champion. I wouldn’t have ended my swimming career any other way.”
